Glutathione Add-In aftercare: 48-hour do’s and don’ts
By Sha's Organic Skincare and Medspa | October 17, 2026
The most important rule after a Glutathione Add-In is simple: hydrate and keep things gentle for 48 hours. Glutathione is an antioxidant add-in I can include with your IV drip during your visit here in Silver Spring, and those first two days are when smart choices make your experience smoother. Think steady water intake, no big heat, and no pushing your body hard. If anything feels “off, ” I want you calling us right away.
Quick reminder: The Glutathione Add-In is an add-in, not a standalone service. You’ll book it alongside an IV service, and I’ll explain exactly how much is added so you know what’s going into your drip.
The first 24 to 48 hours: water, low heat, and no hard workouts
Right after your appointment, I generally recommend treating the rest of your day like a recovery day, even if you feel totally fine. A lot of my Silver Spring clients book after work, so here’s the real-life version: sip water on your commute, eat something light with protein, and don’t plan a high-intensity gym session that night.
Do this
- Hydrate steadily the day of and the day after. This supports circulation and can help reduce lightheadedness.
- Keep meals simple. Many people do best with balanced food instead of skipping meals after an IV.
- Take it easy if you feel tired. Rest is not a setback. It’s your body doing its thing.
Skip this (at least 24 to 48 hours)
- Alcohol. It can dehydrate you and makes it harder to tell what’s a normal after-feeling versus irritation.
- Hot tubs, saunas, and long hot baths. Heat can increase swelling or tenderness at the site and can make you feel faint.
- Vigorous exercise. I’m talking heavy lifting, HIIT, long runs, and anything that spikes your heart rate hard.
If you’re coming from White Oak or Colesville and you’re squeezing your appointment in between errands, plan a “soft landing” afterward. Quick grocery run is usually fine. Carrying heavy bags, rushing around, and overheating yourself is what I want you to avoid.
IV or injection site care that actually prevents headaches later
Most aftercare problems I see are not dramatic. They’re small things that turn into unnecessary soreness or worry because people poke at the area. Keep it clean and leave it alone.
For the first day
- Don’t rub or massage the site. No “checking it” every hour.
- Avoid tight sleeves or anything that presses on the area if it’s tender.
- A small bruise or mild tenderness can happen. That tends to settle down on its own.
What I don’t want you to ignore
Call us immediately if you have a spreading rash, swelling of the face or lips, chest tightness, trouble breathing, fainting, or symptoms that feel like they’re escalating instead of calming down.
If something worries you, I’d rather you call. We see clients coming in from Wheaton, Takoma Park, Hyattsville, Adelphi, and Kensington, and we can talk through what you’re feeling and decide if you should come back in for a quick check.
The first week: keep it consistent so you don’t undo the basics
After the first 48 hours, most people can slide back into normal routines. But “normal” still needs a little common sense. If you’ve been dehydrated, living on caffeine, or skipping meals, that tends to show up as feeling run-down. And that’s when people assume the add-in “didn’t work.”
What I like to see during days 3 to 7
- Hydration stays steady, not just one day of “being good.”
- Workouts come back gradually. Start moderate, then build.
- You pay attention to your baseline. If your energy or mood feels off, you slow down and check in with me.
I’ve had clients tell me they get the best results overall when they follow directions across their services, not just the day-of instructions. That consistency is what separates “I tried it once” from “I’m seeing changes and I’m sticking with it.”
Habits that protect your Glutathione Add-In experience
Glutathione works best as part of a bigger picture. You don’t need a perfect lifestyle, but a few basics make a real difference in how you feel afterward.
Water first, coffee second. If you’re heading back to work after your appointment, keep a water bottle with you and sip regularly. It’s simple and it helps.
Eat a real meal. Lightheadedness is often a hydration plus food issue. Don’t “push through” on an empty stomach.
Ask questions during your visit. I’ll walk you through what I’m adding and why, so you leave knowing exactly what you received.
When to reach out to me at Sha’s (and when it can wait)
I’m big on communication because it keeps you safe and it keeps your mind at ease. People come to me for a reason, and I take that seriously. One of our clients put it plainly: they said my customer service is “top-tier” and that I’m “incredibly communicative, kind, and genuinely care.” That’s exactly how I want you to feel when you’re doing something new.
“Sha is incredibly communicative, kind, and genuinely cares about her customers.”
one of our long-time clients
Reach out the same day if you have hives, swelling, breathing difficulty, chest tightness, fainting, or a reaction that feels scary. If you’re at the 24-hour mark and your symptoms are getting worse instead of better, I want you calling too. If it’s mild soreness at the site and it’s improving, that usually settles with time and gentle care.
Need a quick check-in?
Call me. If you’re in Silver Spring, White Oak, or Colesville, it’s often easy to pop back in on short notice if I need to see the site or talk things through in person.

Save this 48-hour checklist for your next add-in
If you remember nothing else: drink water, skip alcohol, avoid high heat, and hold off on intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours. Keep the IV or injection site clean and don’t mess with it. And if you’re unsure about a symptom, call me. I’d rather answer a “quick question” than have you sitting at home wondering if something is normal.
